HOW GOOD IS YOUR WORD?

If I were to ask you “How good is your word?" How would you reply ?


You’d likely insist that of course you were true to your word - and I think most of us would say that. Right?

 

On the surface that makes sense, and for the most part we really are true to our word.

 

But what about the other 25% of the time, how does it sit when you find out that you aren’t true to your word 100% of the time?

 

Are you OK with that? Yes, No, Maybe?

 

So where am I going with this?
 

LET ME EXPLAIN

 

Hands up if  you've EVER been on a diet, or given yourself a challenge/project to do X amount of work by X amount of time?

 

And for the first couple of weeks you did fine and  followed through on your word and felt pretty good about it.

 

But toward the end of the 3rd week things slacken off a bit, you can’t be bothered, it’s raining, there’s more important stuff to do. Right? 

 

And before long there’s not even any pretence of keeping your word. You just stop all together. 

 

So what does that do?

 

YOUR PERSONAL PROGRAMMING (If there is a 'Secret' this is it)

 

It tells your subconscious that you’re not to be trusted. And how your subconscious translates that is to give you exactly what you want (that’s its job) and so next time you ‘give your word’ your subconscious does it’s job well and begins to show up with well-founded excuses and stories that stop your progress until you finally quit. 

 

Job done! 

 

Everything we do, be and have in our lives now is a result of how we have programmed our subconscious mind from the moment we had that ability. Our paradigms can become 'set in stone' based on long-held beliefs.

 

Some of our beliefs and habits are so ingrained now in our body - meaning our body responds better than our subconscious mind now. Our habits and responses have become automatic! (We inherit a lot of these patterns)

 

So if you find yourself doing the same thing you have always done DESPITE how hard you have TRIED to change - you can 'blame' your own programming.

 

If you're trying to lose weight for instance and have tried a dozen diets, and none of them “WORKED” - you can almost guarantee that the not working part had very little to do with the diet and more to do with your programming. (And often lack of commitment which is also a huge piece of keeping your word.)
 

MAKE THE CHANGE

 

The amazingness (is that a word?) of your brain is that it’s maleable and because no matter WHAT - YOU have the controls at your fingertips to change ANYTHING at a core neurological level - if you want to. (and that is a huge piece of it - the wanting)

 

  • You can change your thoughts
  • You can change your feelings
  • You can change your words and how you communicate
  • You can change your behaviours

 

Which in turn, change your life!

 

And you can do that pretty quickly - as long as you have a TRUE desire to do so and are willing to go ALL IN to make it happen.

 

Which means, you become true to your word at least 95% of the time.

 

And when you live at that level - you become what I like to call Nuke-proof because you have self-efficacy up the wazoo! 

 

DON'T ROB YOUR OWN SAFE

 

So every time you ‘lie’ to yourself it’s kinda like robbing your own safe. It’s totally pointless and detrimental to who you are becoming. And no matter what stage of life you’re in, you are always ‘becoming’. 

 

When you keep your word it’s OK to be scared or feel emotions. It’s OK to want something others think you shouldn’t have. It’s perfectly fine to NOT want to succumb to everyone else’s wants and needs. And it's ideal to be YOU!

 

Because YOU always get to choose.

 

And with choice comes power 

 

And with that power comes your right to be true to your word.

 

And when you have that my lovely

 

You can be anyone you want to be - from the inside out! (congruently)

 

(Even reading that myself gives me goose bumps!)
