WEIGHTLOSS IS HARD!!!
Or is it?
I'll often hear someone saying; It's so HARD to lose weight at this age. (which can be anything from 30 to whenever).
I've got news for you; age is irrelevant when losing weight.
But saying that it will be HARD can make a huge difference.
What if you thought instead that at this 'age,' it was EASIER to lose weight? How would that affect your results? A simple reframe, yes, but it could give you a whole other perspective if you believed it, right?
THOUGHTS ARE JUST THOUGHTS
Thoughts are JUST thoughts, and the more we think those same thoughts, they become beliefs that become part of our OPERATING system.
And by then, they are embedded (embodied) in your system. And the moment you think about losing weight, up pops that little red flag saying, "It'll be hard at this age." FEEL the energy of that sentence. Will that get you jumping out of bed in the morning?
And guess what? It WILL be hard. Go figure!
You actually create that reality with your thoughts.
WEIGHTLOSS DOESN'T NEED TO BE HARD
Even if it's been hard in the past, that doesn't mean it will be again.
And if you look back to what you did to lose weight, I'm guessing it involved some restrictive diet and exercise regime, which really was hard to keep up.
When weightloss becomes restrictive and regimented and doesn't involve YOU, using your innate powers, it WILL be hard and unlikely to be sustainable for any length of time.
We need to address the underlying reasons for excess weight before we can address any 'solution'. I do that in my programme THROW IT TO THE U™ But for now, I'm just sharing a few things that were rattling around in my head and may be helpful.
TIME TO DROP IN AND TUNE OUT
Awareness is vital to any weight loss method, as well as practising connection.. We need to drop into our bodies every now and again.
Right now, (if you can) take a deep cleansing breath and then take a moment or two to drop into your body and feel what you feel, breathing softly as you do.
Notice your breath and feel your lungs expanding and releasing air. What else are you noticing? Maybe your shoulders or jaw feel tight; relax them, all the time breathing softly, just noticing. Allow any passing thoughts to wander past, no need to engage them. Do that for just a minute or two to begin with.
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
I invite you to practice this a couple of times during your day until it becomes a habit that you can step into anytime you're feeling like checking in with yourself or you feel a slight tightness in your neck, jaw or chest. Get curous for whatever comes up for you.
We don't often take time to feel into who we are because we're so busy trying to be who we're not, and I include overweight in that scenario. As well as over-hyped, over-busy, always chasing that next thing. It's how we do life nowadays. Quiet times alone are becoming very rare.
( BTW: I doubt if your natural self is overweight so rather than thinking about losing weight, imagine releasing that excess so you can come home to your slimmer, fitter body that's been there all along.)
Taking a few moments throughout your day to drop into your body and get acquainted can be so beneficial. It's a great way to stay in touch with your core.
TUNE IN (to your mind, body, emotion system)
And the more you learn about yourself, the easier it is for you to tune into your mind, body and emotion system and stay aligned with your thoughts, values and beliefs.
Because when it comes to permanently releasing excess weight, it helps to be at one with your body. Listen to it, connect with it, LOVE it, and allow it to share its wisdom; it's one of your greatest assets, whatever else you DO in life.
An aligned nervous system teamed with a solid and safe relationship with your body is all you need to be, do and have almost anything you want in life, not just in your weight loss journey.
There are so many possibilities beyond that. ♡
